Intermediate K9 Medical Training
Capacity: 10 students
Format: Classroom & Live Scenario
Duration: 8 hours
Taught by: Dr. Rob Presley & Sergeant Matt Lovelace
The Intermediate K9 Medical Training takes things a step further than our Basic K9 Medical Training by adding live-action training scenarios to the foundations of K9 first aid.
Handlers will perform the basic medical training in the morning where they will get hands-on first aid experience based on canine Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (cTECC) guidelines.
In the afternoon, the K9 handlers will be immersed in live-action scenarios mimicking things like K9 gunshot wounds (using a manikin), Narcan administration, and controlling a scene with respect to the K9 officer. These scenarios give handlers a chance to hone skills in a real-world environment.
